Truth, Spoken Aloud and Evaluated.

Glad to have you here, welcome to Truth week. This week produced some of the most in-depth, personal questions of any so far. What would you never lie about? Does believing in something make it true? Do you stress out over the truth? The voices answered these questions, leading up to the eye-opening question, “What is your truth?”

What I learned is the truth is an incredibly malleable idea. Most voices agreed that they should be open-minded, and willing to hear the ideas of others and that their ideas could be made to change. However, there are limits on what we’ll ultimately accept, or take serious, when it comes to the truth. Some issues called for subjective nuance, while others demanded a more objective approach, but both views aimed to be critical when doing so. So I’ll let the voices take over from here, and share their stories and viewpoints, and most importantly their truths.

If you believe in something, does that automatically make it true for you?

No, it just increases the possibility of it becoming true

Have you ever been stressed out or anxious over not telling someone something? How did it affect you?

No, I never had the need to keep something secret until now

Can other people convince you away from your truths? Or do you hold firm and never let go?

I am open minded, if someone can give good proof of something I will most likely change my mind

Is there anything you would never lie about? Is there any secret you would never reveal?

I would never reveal a secret someone else has confined to me. I would never lie about something other people did or said, as long as I am not putting them in a bad spot.

What is your truth? Who is allowed to know that truth?

I think I might have some form of social anxiety. Nobody knows it, I will beat it alone.

How are you feeling, right now?

Great

Describe yourself, however you want, in two sentences. (Names omitted)

Still waters are deeper than you might think

Boat docked on a peaceful, still lake.

Does Belief equal Truth?

Yes

Has the truth caused you stress?

Sometimes people are closed from the truth and don’t want to hear it, actively block my words etc. It is very stressful, when you are trying to get to the person, to explain that their behavior is dangerous of a waste of effort, just to help them, but they will not listen.

Are your truths unshakable?

I can take another’s point of view, but after checking and considering; so, strictly it’s no about convincing, its more about checking and reconsidering my own truths

Never lie about? Never Tell?

I do not have some special truths, but I have some close people to whom I would never lie. In true relationship I don’t have to lie. Also I have no any special secrets to hide, but there truths are only about me. It’s only my burden and I have to carry it myself.

Your Truth

My truth is my inner feeling of what is genuine. If I feel that I share this feeling with a person, they are allowed to know my truth.

Have you ever been stressed out or anxious over not telling someone something? How did it affect you?

Yes; I tended to avoid this person and eventually, after bottling it up for some time, I told them in a bad way.

Can other people convince you away from your truths? Or do you hold firm and never let go?

Depends on the truth. There are some truths that I will not set aside, but there are other topics that are perhaps less important to me that I am more lenient about. It does take a lengthy discussion, however, for me to change my mind about something.

Is there anything you would never lie about? Is there any secret you would never reveal?

I would never lie about things like my age or who the people in my family are. There are secrets that I would not reveal because I feel that I sometimes like to feel alone with thoughts on the situations.

What is your truth? Who is allowed to know that truth?

I’m not sure what I would say my truth is, but I’d like to think that I am very open to sharing it with everybody. I don’t think we’re on this Earth long enough to have to hide certain things about ourselves.

Self-Description

I’m a French student studying english language. I’d like to become a screenwriter.

A graphic showing water ending sharply at the edge of the Earth.

Does Belief equal Truth?

It depends on what you mean by true.  You can believe in something, but have it be objectively false.  Ex 2+2=5. But some things can only be decided by the person, for example “I am in pain”.

Has the truth caused you stress?

All the time- I can’t keep secrets.  Never tell me about a surprise party or an interesting secret- because I will be the one to spill it.

Are your truths unshakable?

There’s a lot of things that I know about myself that others choose to disgree with.  But they can’t talk me out of my gender, my chronic pain, my synestasia, or my emotions.

Never lie about? Never Tell?

If my friends tell me to keep their gender/sexuality a secret, I’ll never out them.  That shit’s dangerous.

Your Truth

I’m a dude, even though I was assigned female at birth.  Everyone around me knows this, and if they don’t, it’s because they’re not looking hard enough.  I haven’t gotten to change my legal gender yet.

Feeling

I’m in a lot of pain, thank you for asking.  I’m trying to scrape up the energy to act normal for a few hours because my family is sick of me canceling on them to stay home in a dark quiet room.

Self-Description

A very good cat bed.  My cats would give me 9/10 because I’m very warm and give good pets, but -1 because I eventually have to get up.

So, where do you stand and what is your truth? These days we have many things we call, or consider truth; this Psychology Today article can give you some good thinking fuel to go further, touching on truth in current news, the bible, and history. I found myself reflecting a lot on it as I proceeded through this week. I loved hearing how we create the word around us, and how important maintaining truth can be.
